Pub Sign Icon Help keep pubs afloat!

CAMRA are urging all members to get involved in the Tax campaign ahead of the Budget. All CAMRA members are being asked to take action to save our pubs from sinking. While it's the publicans and brewers that pay the tax bills, it's ultimately consumers like you who will pay the price as publicans and brewers are forced to put up prices or go bust.

CAMRA are calling for a £5,000 annual business rate relief for all pubs as well as a freeze in beer duty.

We have now started to accept nominations for the branch Pub of the Year (POTY) 2018. Paper forms will be made available on the remaining coach trips this year and at all future Get-togethers (including the Christmas Party).

Ale Pump Red Icon As reported in last month’s newsletter, Big Bog Brewery in Speke has launched a new beer. Mire is described as a tawny coloured session ale with an ABV of 3.8% and is now available in pubs. Another two new beers are currently being developed. Pub Sign Icon As reported in the Liverpool Echo earlier this month, a former building society in the city centre is set to be transformed into a real ale pub. The Furness Building Society on Castle Street is due to be renovated into a venue selling real ale and pies. Sanctuary Tap, will be offering a selection of real ales in an old school pub setting. Alongside regular beers the pub will also offer guest ales on rotation. A variety of pies will be on offer - including vegan and vegetarian options alongside several types of mash, including mustard mash and root mash.

Pub Sign Icon The Weld Blundell in Lydiate has finally re-opened after a significant investment and refurbishment. The pub is a joint venture between MSR Pubs Limited and Star Pubs & Bars (Heineken). It now features open fireplaces and an outdoor area and currently has 3 handpulls.  MSR also currently operate the Yew Tree in Preston and the Plough in Euxton.

CAMRA Members - Are you missing out

Take noticeLiverpool & Districts CAMRA keeps in touch with members on email on a regular basis: giving a synopsis on all beery events (both CAMRA and non-CAMRA) and special news such as pub awards, and reminders about branch socials and meetings.

We are keeping members up to date with what is going on within the branch without using CAMRA funds on snail mail letters.
