What is a QR Code

QR Code
A QR Code (Quick Response) is a mobile phone readable barcode.

Using a mobile phone you can scan the code. Your mobile phone will need QR Code decoding software installed on it. This is available from your phones ‘market place’ or ‘store’.

Once you scan the code, the software will either display the information in the code or take you to a website.

For example, we published a QR code on the pub passport map. If the code is scanned using a Smartphone, the phones internet browser will automatically take you to our pub passport update page. This saves you having to type in the website address.

A QR Code can also contain a phone number, an SMS message, V-Card data or just plain text, and the scanning device will respond by opening up the correct application to handle the encoded data appropriately.
