It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Dave Cunningham, a stalwart member of this branch from the 1970’s until recently when his health started to fail. Dave was a former branch chair and for about 30 years he was branch secretary.  For many years he was also a member of our beer festival organising committee where his roles included secretary and staffing officer. As general manager of Halton transport, his logistical skills were invaluable.  Many of you may also know Dave from his work behind the beer festival voucher desk. Dave had an encyclopaedic knowledge of Czech and German breweries which included the public transport to get from one brewery to the next. A trip with him to Munich for Octoberfest would include a detailed itinerary of half a dozen stops or more, which pub and beer to drink, and which subway or tram to get to the next stop, all before getting to the festival. Dave will be greatly missed by the branch, and our condolences go out to his wife Jeanette, foster daughter Teresa, and his family and friends at this sad time.

 

The funeral service of David Cunningham will take place at St Helens Crematorium on Tuesday 24th May at 1 pm. This will be followed by a reception at the Burtonwood Community Centre
