Liverpool's Neptune Brewery produces a wide variety of beer styles, but there's one that they've never brewed before, until now.
With spring on the way, co-owner Julie O'Grady thought it was the perfect time to brew Neptune's first sour. Her ideal sour beer would be fresh and crisp, ready for the warmer weather and longer evenings coming in - so a light and refreshing Berliner Weisse seemed to be the perfect fit.
The result is Wave Rider, a thirst-quenching beer that's spritzy and refreshing. Raspberry and pineapple purées add to the tartness, but also give a hint of sweetness on the palate, leading to a dry finish.
Julie O’Grady, Co-owner of Neptune Brewery commented, “I'm over the moon to share our latest beer - now seems like the perfect time for our very first sour, and at 3.2% it's a great option for those looking for sessionable options right now".
Wave Rider has been released to independent stockists this week, prior to being sold in cans direct to the public via the Neptune Brewery website.
Neptune Brewery launched its online store during lockdown, for customers across the UK who aren't able to get its beers in their local area. Cask, keg, and cans are also available for local customers to take out from the brewery on a Friday (3pm - 6pm).
