Attention All Publicans and Club Owners - Pub and Club Support
The Liverpool & Districts CAMRA branch can provide the following support to pubs and clubs. It does not matter if you are a new or established pub or club, we can help.
COVID related resources for pubs and clubs:
CAMRA Nationally has a range of information and useful advice on its website. Check out the latest support: Government resources available for pubs
When lockdown eases and pubs can reopen this is what we can offer:-
WhatPub.com. This is a national website database run by CAMRA and maintained by local branch volunteers specifically to identify pubs and clubs that sell and promote Real Ale. It includes full details of the pub or club venue including opening times, what real ales are available, does it sell food etc as well as other amenities. We will ensure your pub is listed once we confirm a few details. WhatPub is also used by members as the vehicle to submit beer scores, which helps us to identify the best pubs to be included in future Good Beer Guides. Please help us keep your entry up to date by letting us know of any changes/ corrections especially opening times and confirmation that you still selling real ale and what ale is available. LocAle: This is an accreditation scheme for pubs and clubs that endeavour to offer at least one locally brewed real ale at all times. By local, we mean brewed within 30 miles of the pub or club by road distance, therefore reducing the number of “beer miles”. You will be listed on our locAle page and in MerseyAle. Free CAMRA promotional materials are available including window stickers and pump clip materials together with a list of possible breweries that meet the LocAle criteria. Social media: We try and publicise pubs as much as we can on Twitter but we can miss tweets. If you include @LiverpoolCAMRA in tweets then this will help as we will then get a notification. Pubs often take photos of their pump clips price lists and “what's on/ coming soon board” and circulate on Twitter. Social media is probably the most effective way to getting news of your events out to our membership. Please also follow us on Facebook and Instagram.
MerseyAle: Our free printed quarterly branch magazine. 6,000+ copies are produced and is also available online on our website for reading or downloading. This means any advertising will reach an incredible number of potential customers.
We deliver copies to pubs and clubs across Liverpool & Districts CAMRA Branch area. Also free dedicated stands can be provided for them to be neatly displayed, which makes for a more tidy bar area. We have a dedicated Distribution Manager to help ensure you receive copies of MerseyAle, if you want to display them in your pub. Email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
We do publicise pub and club news snippets, but more detailed advertising is available; £110 for Half Page, £220 Full Page, Inside front cover £250 and £275 for back cover. Full details on website or Email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Discounts are available if you commit to four consecutive issues.
If you don't have your own advert, we can produce one for you at a Cost of £25.
Pub News: Please let us know of ANY pub news for our branch mailout and news webpage i.e. beer festivals, charity events, music nights or quizzes. Also advise us of any increase in the number of handpumps or if you are proposing to stocking real ales from breweries not usually seen in Merseyside etc. Email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Pub Discount: Why not attract more customers by offering a discount on real ales for card carrying CAMRA members. You will get CAMRA supporting materials and a listing on our website and of course a mention in MerseyAle. Email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Liverpool Pub of the Year: CAMRA’s National Pub of the Year is the annual competition to find the very best pub in the UK. It all starts at local branch level, with branch competitions to establish the Liverpool Pub of the Year in the Liverpool & Districts branch areas. The winner will go forward to the regional competition to select the top 16 pubs. Of those 16, four finalists are chosen from which final winner is judged. You’ve got to be in it to win it! Further deatils on our Pub of the Year page
Good Beer Guide (GBG): We are often asked how pubs get into the GBG. There is only one way and that is by consistently serving good quality real ale and encouraging CAMRA members to score the beer via WhatPub.com. We do have some CAMRA materials to help support this. Email: This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it.
Liverpool Beer Festival: This is usually held in February each year and Pubs that advertise in the festival programme will also receive free festival tickets. Other sponsorship deals are available such as having your name printed onto the beer festival glasses which are handed out to each delegate or you could sponsor one of the numerous bars, barrels of beers or Tee shirts. May is Mild Month: This is a national CAMRA campaign for the full duration of May, during which we encourage pubs to stock at least one real mild. You will get supporting materials and a listing on our website and in MerseyAle (depending on publication date).
Other initiatives include Cask Ale Week, Cider and Perry Months. Again supporting materials can be provided for you to advertise these events in your pub. Check website for details.
