We have just received some fantastic news that Carol Ross, the licensee of The Roscoe Head, has acquired the freehold of this famous Liverpool city centre pub. Yes we were just as surprised as everyone else but this is absolutely tremendous news and of great significance. Carol has managed to prise this CAMRA award winning pub from her Pubco owner New River Retail who are renowned for converting pubs into retail and residential units. The Roscoe has been included in every edition of CAMRA’s Good Beer Guide since 1974, including the 2021 edition. There have only ever been 5 pubs in the country that are known to have appeared in every edition.
Liverpool & Districts CAMRA Branch have been involved in the many and various campaigns to Save the Roscoe over the years and latterly supporting the ‘Friends of the Roscoe’ in achieving the registering of the pub as an Asset of Community Value (ACV) which probably gave Carol and NRR the space to negotiate a deal.
Well done Carol and thanks to all supporters. Look forward to the reopening and seeing you in The Good Beer Guide 2022 edition.
